The Block Morgan Ranch in Minong has been providing a unique equine learning experience for students at Northwood since 2016. Over 70 students throughout the years have had the opportunity to accompany a Northwood volunteer to the Block’s. Students participate once a week for two hours in eight week sessions where they are able to meet, care for, and interact with horses. After several sessions of becoming familiar with the animals, learning basic horse care, and practicing safety procedures, students have the opportunity to learn how to ride and drive the buggy or sleigh. Our hope is that through participation in these equine socialization activities, students will receive a truly unique experience leading to academic, emotional, and personal growth.
Mr. Jim Block is a retired Northwood Educator and a member of the Northwood Board of Education. We appreciate his time and talent as he continues to have a positive impact with the students in our community.
