
Due to the cold temperatures this morning, Northwood School and the Tiny Seeds Learning Center will be opening two hours late today.


Join us for informational sessions with the Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) to learn more about High School Academies and Start College Now. This meeting is mandatory for parents who have students taking part in this programing for the upcoming 25-26 school year and optional for parents who would like more information about these programs. These sessions will be on Wednesday, February 19th in the Technology Center at Northwood School. For further information on these programs, please contact the district office.


February is CTE Month! We'll be highlighting the value of Career and Technical Education classes throughout the rest of the month!


Last week, NorthStar traveled to Hartley Nature Center in Duluth! Hartley Nature Center is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to environmental education for all ages. There NorthStar students learned about specialized owl adaptations, and they even dissected owl pellets! Later in the day, they learned about winter survival by building shelters and fires. Just a reminder, on Monday, February 17th there will not be school for students due to a professional development day for our staff. However, the Tiny Seeds Learning Center will be open for their normal hours.


There was a great deal of fun being had at Northwood Elementary this week. On Wednesday, the students participated in the annual day of play. There were indoor activities throughout the morning and in the afternoon everyone got a chance to go sledding! On Thursday, it was the 100th day of school and classrooms were celebrating in 100 different ways!

Wisconsin’s public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend a school district other than the one in which they live. Applications may be submitted to up to three nonresident school districts if the pupil wishes to attend a brick and mortar school. Seniors met with Mrs. Kildow & Mrs. Denninger on February 5th to discuss the Northwood Scholarship Program. All applications are due March 31, 2025. Parents/Guardians, please check in with your student about this.


Jared Schultz was named to the WFCA all-state football team as an Outside Linebacker. He also was named the WFCA 8-man Player of the Year. This is the first time a Northwood/Solon Springs football player was named to the all-state team much less to be named the Player of the Year. Tremendous accomplishments to say the least.
During his time at N/SS the team made the playoffs three times and had winning seasons in all four seasons of his high school career. In 2024 the team was undefeated Northwoods-West conference Champions and advanced to the state semi-finals finishing the season with a 10-1 record.
Jared finished his career with impressive statistics. Over his four years playing for Northwood/Solon Springs he passed for 4,335 yards and 58 touchdowns, ran for 5,037 yards and 80 touchdowns, received for 591 and 6 touchdowns. Jared also scored 7 special teams touchdowns during his career.
Defensively, Jared finished his career with 415 total tackles, 16 interceptions, and 8 forced fumbles. He also scored two defensive touchdowns.
Jared ended his career with a total of 9,963 combined yards passing, rushing, and receiving. He also scored an unbelievable 153 total touchdowns! Those numbers are believed to be 8-man football state records.
Congratulations Jared on your outstanding accomplishments!! The Northwood/Solon Springs football program, coaches, school and community are proud of you!!!

All the way to Green Bay!
Two NorthStar students competed at the second round of the Wisconsin Land and Water Speaking Contest. Both students earned first place in their respective divisions and are headed to state March 5th in Green Bay!


This week students from NorthStar competed at the annual Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Speaking Contest. Their speeches showcased their public speaking skills as well as their passion for conservation issues in Wisconsin. Topics this year ranged from invasive and protected species, to whitetail deer populations, and even agricultural practices of Wisconsin. Two students placed first in their respective divisions at the county level and are advancing to the multi-county competition. We are so proud of our NorthStar students!


Weekly Northwood School & Sporting Events for January 27 - January 31.



Due to the two days of no school this week, report cards and grades will not be ready until Friday, January 24th. Kindergarten through 5th grade will be bringing paper copies home that day and middle & high school students grades will be visible on Infinite Campus for parents to view. Requests for paper copies of report cards can be done with the District Office.


Due to the change of the home basketball games from Friday to Thursday, our remaining Winterfest dress-up days have switched.


Due to the cold weather and school closure for Tuesday, January 21st, there are a couple of changes to some upcoming sporting events this week.
Tuesday’s high school boys and girls basketball games against Turtle Lake have been rescheduled for Thursday, February 6th Times and location have remained the same.
The high school boys and girls basketball games that were scheduled for Friday, January 24th against Clear Lake at Northwood will now be played on Thursday, January 23rd. Varsity girls and JV boys will play at 5:45 PM and varsity boys will play at 7:15 PM. Go Big Green!
