Two NorthStar students represented Washburn County in the Area Conservation Speaking Contest on Friday, January 26th, along with students from four other area counties. Tucker Madsen (8th grade) took 2nd place in his age division. Ava Kildow (6th grade) placed first and will be representing NorthStar at the state level in Green Bay on March 6th.
Save the date for Family Reading Night on Wednesday, Feb. 14th! We are planning a variety of learning stations around all things literacy. More information will be sent home with students next week.
Mark Your Calendars! The dates for Winterfest have been set as February 5th - February 9th. And with Winterfest come dress-up days. See the graphics for more information on those (notice there are separate elementary themed days versus middle & high school themed days). Information for the Snowball Dance for grades 9th-12th is also noted on the graphics.
Eleven NorthStar students competed in the Wisconsin Land + Water Conservation Awareness Speaking Contest in Shell Lake. Beginning in November, students selected and researched topics regarding conservation efforts in Wisconsin. On Friday, they delivered their 4-6 minute speeches to a panel of judges from Washburn County. Out of the eleven students, six of them placed in the elementary and junior divisions. First place winners in both divisions will be moving on to the area competition Friday, January 26th.
Congratulations to Northwood's Jared Schultz! Tonight in the boys basketball game against the Clear Lake Warriors, Jared scored his 1,000th career point!
Project Prom Dress! Help local youth attend their prom. Donate your clean, gently used dresses to help young ladies in the area have a night to remember. Give that dress another night to shine!
Items being sought for the event are: prom dresses, party dresses, evening gowns, jewelry, shoes, purses & clutches. Collecting New & Gently Used items by February 23, 2024.
Shopping Date for students is Saturday, March 2, 2024 at JLAAC in Minong from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Northwood School is at the mid-year point and grades will be available soon. Kindergarten - 5th grade students will each be bringing home their report cards on Wednesday, Jan. 17th. 6th - 12th grade students and parents can access final grades via Infinite Campus on Wednesday, Jan. 17th. MS & HS families needing printed copies of report cards can request those with the District Office.
Out of extreme caution with the predicted storm for today, all after-school activities for Friday, January 12th are either cancelled or postponed. The double-header boys and girls basketball games at Unity are postponed. The middle school girls basketball game at Northwood is postponed. All practices for tonight are cancelled. Stay safe!

The Northwood School District has immediate part-time openings for transporting student on District routes using the District’s van and/or car. A valid Class D driver license is required, which is the standard license to operate basic vehicles.
The schedule can be very flexible with openings in the morning and afternoon shifts. These shifts are roughly 1 ½ hours in length and preferred 5 days per week but there is flexibility in days as well.

We are wishing all of our Northwood families a happy, healthy & safe time during the upcoming Holiday Break. Again, just some reminders. There is no school from Dec. 25th - Jan. 1st. Classes will resume on Jan. 2nd. The Tiny Seeds Learning Center will be open Dec. 27th - 28th. And the District Office be closed; however, there will be staff present working on a variety of projects. Enjoy your break!
