Yesterday, NorthStar students participated in a teambuilding activity using letter tiles. In small groups, they used these tiles to make words that connected, and they could rearrange their letters as many times as they needed until all the tiles were used. When a group was able to use all their letters, they called out "take two", and each group could take two new tiles to continue the game. The class played several rounds, including one where each student could only participate in a certain role. We then talked about how that changed students' level of engagement and led to more challenges within the groups. Ultimately, students recognized that having everyone helping made each group stronger.

NorthStar will be hosting an Open House on Tuesday, May 6th before the Elementary Spring Concert for anyone interested in learning more about the project-based charter school option at Northwood!

Tonight is the night! The Family & Community Night is from 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM. So come and grab some food, check out the art gallery, partake in your child's student-led conferences, take a chance at the basket raffle, or buy some baked goods, books, or Evergreen Enterprise items. This event is open to the community, too. We hope to see many faces tonight!

Just another reminder about the upcoming Pinecone Preschool Round-Up & Registration on Friday, April 11, 2025. This is a free full-day program that runs from Monday through Thursday. Students also receive free breakfast, lunch and transportation. The child needs to be 3 years old by September 1, 2025 to be eligible. Reminder about Project Prom Dress! Help local youth attend their prom. Donate your clean, gently used dresses to help young ladies in the area have a night to remember. Give that dress another night to shine! Items being sought for the event are: prom dresses, party dresses, evening gowns, jewelry, shoes, purses & clutches. There is still time to open enroll your child today! Wisconsin’s public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend a school district other than the one in which they live. Applications may be submitted to up to three nonresident school districts if the pupil wishes to attend a brick and mortar school. 9th grade students (and a few juniors) were invited by the UW-Superior Theatre Department to view Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare today.

At NorthStar, spring means sugar bush season! Each year, students in NorthStar participate in tapping maple trees in the school forest and collecting sap. We are currently in the process of boiling the sap down to make our very own maple syrup!
